Introducing the late president of the Director Board

---Founder of Xin An Polytechnic College

Mr. Wang Pingshan, the former president of the Director Board of Xin An Polytechnic, was the ex-Vice Governor of Guangdong Province and the ex-Vice Chairman of Chinese People Consultation Conference (CPCC) of Guangdong Province.

As a well - known educationist, Mr Wang had been working on teaching, school management and administration of universities for more than thirty years since post – graduated from Lingnan University in Electronic and Engineering major. During the period between the end of 80’s and the early 90’s. Mr Wang took a post in Guangdong Province Government as the Vice Governor in charge of the administration of education that concerned 60 million people. In the meantime, Guangdong’s education kept the same pace as its economy boost.

Mr Wang was the president of Guangdong Provincial Education Promotion Association (GPEPA) known as an influential not-for-profit organization promoting education for children and adults.

Establishment of Xin An Polytechnic

Xin An Polytechnic was created in 1998 by the founder, Mr. Wang Pingshan and GPEPA and by the support of the local Government of Nanshan District, Shenzhen city. The ownership of Xin An Polytechnic college defines its non-stated-owned nature.

Achievement 

Xin An Polytechnic College was one of the winners of  ‘Top-ten Independent College and Vocational School Award’(see Yangcheng Evening News of 15th Dec. 2003 and Nanfang Daily of 17th Dec. 2003).

Entry Requirement

Graduates of high school or middle technical school through National Tertiary Entrance Examination ,obtaining a certain score required by the General Examination Commission.

Teaching Staffs

One hundred and twenty professional staffs are involved in teaching, Associate professors and above account for 36% while the others are lecturers. 

A Framework of Credits

The graduate who has gained 120 credits through 3 years full time studies is eligible to be granted the Chinese Higher National Diploma (CHND). Smart students can achieve the CHND with less than 3 years only if they obtain 120 credits in that period of time. It is also possible to take longer than 3 years but not more than 6 years to complete the 120 credits for whom might like more flexibility. And the tuition fee was charged on module-basis.

Learning Facilities and Environment

Inside the campus, there are computer rooms, Internet labs, linguistic learning rooms, biotech experimental labs, Interior design labs, computer-aided drawing rooms, lecture theatres equipped with multimedia, electronic labs, communication experimental labs, etc. and a library.

In the neighborhood of the campus, there is the Nanshan District Public Library, the Nanshan Culture and Sports Centre. The Nanshan Hospital is located near Xin An within the distance of ten minutes walk.

Prospect of the graduates

Xin An Polytechnic College has carried out the extensive market research amongst the employers and identified the skill and knowledge that its graduates require in order to be able to move effectively into the employment. The employment rate for the graduates overall accounted for more than 94%.

Enrolment

There are currently1500 full time students and 250 part time students.

Planning the future

A new campus is planning to accommodate more students than the current enrolment up to 3000.The engineering is going to be under way.
